Edward B. Pierce, Jr.
Founder & President
Ed is responsible for development and implementation of the overall mission, strategy and direction of NorthStar. In addition to managing the overall insurance operation, he has significant client relationship responsibilities.
In 1995, Ed and Michael Griffin (retired) founded NorthStar in order to create an insurance operation dedicated to superior service and excellence in the delivery of risk management and insurance services. NorthStar quickly became one of the fastest growing insurance operations in the Northeast and has become one of the largest independently owned insurance agents and brokers in New England.
Ed has served on producer advisory councils for numerous insurance companies including: Arbella, Commercial Union, Travelers, Peerless, One Beacon, USF&G and Central Insurance Group.
Ed is married with two sons.
Joseph D. Flynn
Executive Vice President
Joe joined NorthStar in June 1997 as Senior Vice President. He is responsible for overseeing the delivery of service on NorthStar key accounts. He also serves on NorthStar’s executive management team.
Joe started his insurance career as an underwriter with Hartford Insurance. He subsequently joined legendary insurance broker OBrion, Russell & Co. Through a series of mergers, national broker Aon became the surviving operating entity. Through all of the changes, Joe served as Vice President and was in charge of a significant group of large and complicated risks on the executive level.
He is a graduate of Fairfield University where he played on the varsity hockey team.
Joe is married with two daughters and one son.
Senior Vice President & Director of Operations
Kerri joined the NorthStar team with 15 years of insurance industry experience in account management and agency operations. She also serves on NorthStar’s executive management team.
As Senior Vice President and Director of Operations, Kerri is responsible for the day to day management of NorthStar. She is primarily responsible for the stewardship of NorthStar’s service mission and has direct oversight of all HR and accounting functions.
Kerri is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and is married with one son and two daughters.
Gregory G. Pierce, CPA
Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development
Greg is responsible for executing NorthStar’s marketing, sales and business development efforts and is on NorthStar’s executive management team.
Greg began his career as an associate at Ernst & Young LLP, a “Big 4” professional services firm. At Ernst & Young, Greg was a member of the Transaction Advisory Services division, and previous to that was an Associate in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services division. Since joining the NorthStar team in 2010, Greg has focused his efforts on building NorthStar’s marketing efforts within a number of targeted industries including construction, real estate, technology, emerging growth and manufacturing.
Greg graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Master of Science in Accountancy, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Business from Lafayette College, where he played on the varsity lacrosse team. He earned the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in May 2010, and also earned the Licensed Insurance Advisor (LIA) designation in March 2012.
Senior Vice President
Tim is a Senior Vice President at NorthStar and has over 20 years of insurance experience. Tim is responsible for and oversees the delivery of service on a group of key accounts. Tim also assists in the oversight of the firm’s commercial insurance operations and client services. Tim is a member of NorthStar’s executive management team.
Tim started his insurance career in 1994 as a producer at a family owned agency and in 1999 he was promoted to Commercial Department Manager. His duties included overseeing the daily operations of the department, account handling and sales. In 2000 he was named Vice President at which time his duties included sales, oversight of the insurance needs of larger commercial clients, talent acquisition, human resource responsibilities and assisting in the day to day operation of the agency.
Tim later became Branch Manager for one of the largest independently owned insurance brokerage operations in New England. He was responsible for all aspects of the branch including staff management, sales, management of mid-level and large commercial accounts, client services, talent acquisition and human resource duties.
Tim has served on several advisory councils for many insurance companies, including Travelers, National Grange Mutual, and served as National Co-Chair for Merchants Insurance Group Agency Council.
Tim is a graduate of Worcester State University
President, NorthStar Benefit Insurance Agency, Inc.
Frank is the co-founder and president of NorthStar’s affiliate company, NorthStar Benefit Insurance Agency, Inc. NorthStar Benefit was founded in 1995 and provides employee benefit solutions to businesses from large corporations to main street entities. In addition, NorthStar Benefit provides various health insurance, life insurance, disability plans and long term care programs for individuals and families. In the employee benefit arena, Frank leads a team dedicated to providing comprehensive programs for clients. Services include benefit design, product analysis and selection, program implementation, and ongoing support and service.
Frank began his career in the Boston office of New York Life Insurance Company. He has over 30 years of experience in the employee benefit and financial services field.
Frank is a graduate of St. Anselm College and holds the CFP professional designation.
